Sympathetic privacy policy

Your recordings

Sympathetic processes measurements from your connected Polar H10, including heart rate, beat intervals, ECG and supported motion recordings. It uses them to display recordings, calculate session results and support breathing assessments. Recordings, session history, preferences and remembered sensor information are stored locally by the app.

The app does not send your recordings to the developer. It has no developer-operated cloud account, advertising or third-party analytics SDK. It does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Subscriptions

Apple processes subscription purchases and payments through the App Store. Sympathetic uses Apple's verified transaction and subscription status information on your device to determine access to Polar H10 features. The developer does not receive your payment-card or bank details through the app.

Subscription verification does not upload your physiological recordings to the developer. Manage subscriptions and payment information through your Apple Account. Apple's standard Terms of Use apply to the app.

Apple Health

If you enable Mindful Minutes and grant permission, Sympathetic writes confirmed breathing time to Apple Health. It does not request permission to read your Health records. You can disable future exports in the app and manage permissions in Apple Health. Previously saved Health entries are managed separately in Apple Health.

Exports and backups

When you export recordings, you choose where files are saved or shared. These files may contain personal physiological measurements. Copies outside the app are controlled by you and the destination service. Device backups and cloud storage you choose are governed by your device settings and the relevant provider. Deleting a recording from Sympathetic does not delete exported copies or Apple Health entries.

Permissions and local diagnostics

Bluetooth is used to connect to your sensor. Optional notifications provide session and recording alerts. The app uses local system logs for troubleshooting. These logs are not automatically uploaded to a developer-operated service.

Support requests

If you email support, the developer receives your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. This information is used to respond and investigate your request. Please avoid sending health recordings unless you choose to share them for support. You can contact the same address to request deletion of information you sent.

Keeping and deleting data

Saved recordings remain in app storage until removed. Use the app’s history controls to delete recordings. Removing the app deletes its local app data, but backups, exported files and Apple Health entries may remain in their respective locations.

External websites

Opening research or support links takes you to a website. Websites and email services may process connection information needed to deliver their services and apply their own privacy practices. This policy describes the Sympathetic iPhone app.

Changes

If the app’s data practices change, this policy will be updated with a new effective date.
